Ingredients for making Chicken Lollipops

  • For the marination
  1. Chicken lollipops – 10 pieces
  2. Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tablespoon
  3. Red chili powder – 1 teaspoon
  4. Black pepper powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  5. Salt – to taste
  6. Lemon juice – 1 teaspoon
  7. Cornflour – 3 tablespoons
  8. All-purpose flour – 2 tablespoons
  9. Egg – 1
  • For the sauce
  1. Oil – 2 tbsp
  2. Finely chopped garlic – 1 tablespoon
  3. Finely chopped ginger – 1 tablespoon
  4. Green chilies – 2 (chopped)
  5. Onion – 1 (diced)
  6. Capsicum – 1 (diced)
  7. Red chili sauce – 2 tablespoons
  8. Soy sauce – 1 tablespoon
  9. Tomato ketchup – 2 tablespoons
  10. Vinegar – 1 teaspoon
  11. Cornflour slurry – 1 tablespoon cornflour + 3 tablespoons water
  12. Spring onions – for garnish

Marinate the chicken

First of all, you have to wash and dry the chicken lollipops thoroughly. Then add ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, black pepper, salt, lemon juice, cornflour, flour and egg in a bowl and mix everything well. Now put the chicken in it and coat it well. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour. The more time you give to the marinade, the better the chicken lollipop will be.

Fry the lollipops

Heat oil in a pan well. When the oil is hot, deep fry the marinated chicken on medium flame till it becomes golden and crispy. When the chicken is fried well, take it out and place it on tissue paper so that the excess oil gets drained out from it.

Prepare the sauce

Pour two tablespoons of oil in a pan, add garlic, ginger and green chillies and fry for a few seconds. Now add onion and capsicum and fry on high flame for 1 minute so that a slight crunch is maintained. Now add soya sauce, red chilli sauce, tomato ketchup and vinegar and mix everything well.

Add the chicken to the sauce

Now add the fried chicken lollipops to the sauce and mix gently so that each piece is coated well with the sauce. Now add the Cornflour solution and stir for 1-2 minutes so that the sauce thickens a bit and sticks well to the chicken.

Some Tips for Perfect Chicken Lollipops

  • Marinate the chicken for at least 1 hour so that the spices penetrate deep inside, which enhances the taste.
  • While frying the chicken, keep the flame medium so that the chicken gets cooked from inside and does not burn from outside.
  • Be careful while adding salt to the sauce because soy sauce already contains salt, otherwise even a little carelessness can spoil your chicken lollipop.
